This was so frustrating to hear. Who is he to decide that his students do not get to receive a hearing screening and take that opportunity away from them? It was even more frustrating to watch when all of the kids were raising their hands and stating that they wanted to get their hearing tested and after the principal came down and said how grateful he was that we were there. By the teacher withholding this opportunity, he could have potentially had a child with a hearing loss be overlooked and not helped. I do not think he was doing this intentionally by any means, but I do think that he was uneducated on the subject. Perhaps before Marquette Audiology goes to the school, the teachers could receive an email or memo stating how important it is for these kids to have their hearing screened, and that if offered, they should comply.
