Understandably, when people hear “graphic design” they immediately would think it goes along the lines of designing for video games or websites which is true, but that is not the only focus a student can choose when studying their work. The program begins with introduction classes where students are educated on the different choices they have to make when deciding which field of graphic design they would like to major in. However, before acceptance it is recommended by some schools and required by others that students take at least two art classes of their choice as it provides the student with a better understanding of the course work. On the same note, some schools do not accept the same courses at others do. Particularly, SVAD at UCF does not accept student credits that are listed as Commercial Art or Advertisement Art as it does not apply to the courses required in their programs. Nonetheless, all programs nationwide do require two perquisites in focus of some form of artistry. Communication is a necessity to be a graphic designer, one must be able to connect and understand their customer, if a designer cannot captivate the essence and desire of the work requested of them, then the work becomes that much more difficult. This is no different within a program in college, students must be able to communicate with each other and be able to work independently and collectively as a group to design their best work. As a graphic designer, one must be an excellent typist as most of their time is spent in front of a computer of some kind. They must also have, as students, some experience in programs such as Photoshop and Adobe, and as a professional they must have the programs perfected and be able to use them effectively, also a professional must know the complicated steps of web development. Time management is crucial as most professionals are working on multiple different designs during the same period of time. Graphic design is not an easy profession but it is - without a doubt - a profession that cannot be duplicated, there is nothing like
