There are many types of diets. However, all of the successful diets follow similar plans. They emphasize eating more fruits and vegetables, consuming less fat and sugar, portion control and exercise. One of the most popular diet plans today is the gluten-free diet. Doctors recommend that people who have celiac disease avoid consuming gluten. Only one percent of the population has celiac disease.

Alan Levinovitz is a professor at James Madison University. He has stated that people who follow the gluten-free diet have reported feeling healthier.
