The Benefits Of Factory Farming

Decent Essays
People always ask why animal should have rights. They are not same as human being but they have same sense as human. They will scare, feel loneliness, pain, frustration, suffer, and happy. “We should treat animals humanely,” said Shawn E. Klein. However, factory farming practices an inhumane technique in mass production of dairy product and meat. According to statistic, 97% of the billion animals tortured and killed each are farm animals because factory farming has to maximize the production in order to gain profit. Since they see animals as mere commodities and they are bred, fed, confined, and drugged to lays more eggs and produce more meats.

It seems to me that in this world people are becoming more and more preoccupied with the food that they eat and unreasonably so if that’s possible. There even seems to be a cold war in effect between advocates of the “organic” movement and those who staunchly defend conventional practices. This proverbial war is being waged vehemently within the realm of meat production. As more and more horror stories circulate about just how the beef in our Big Macs and the chicken in our McChicken come to be more and more people have begun to advocate a better way. This “better way” is the not so new and, as I plan to vindicate, not so improved “grass-feed” approach, as opposed to the conventional Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) raised beef.…

Does the society believe that animals should have rights? Society believes that animals are not like humans so the animals get treated inhumanely, but they are wrong. Studies have shown that animals are more like humans than previously thought and that they are more aware. The way society treats animals is inhumane because animals can feel pain, have similar characteristics to humans, and are self-aware.…

The way that animals are taken care of on farms are that they are allowed to roam freely, they are not feed with corn, no violence, and the handling and killing of the animals are in a smooth manner. If compared to factory farms, they do not care of the well-being of the animals, they continuously feed the animals, and only keep them in a crowd bin full of other animals. At the same time, the people who regulate these factory farms is the government, which explains why the animals are not taken care of. Just seeing this, I am quite upset even if it supplies me with the foods that I eat. When it comes to the food that I eat, I would like it to be taken care of in a way that will not make me feel sorry for these animals.…

Over the years farming practices have changed dramatically, and as a result many health complications have emerged. Because of the extreme transformations of agricultural practices, the health of animals, the environment, and more importantly humans have been put at risk. Today’s farming practices include feeding the livestock food they were not intended to eat corn and the remains of other animals. In contrast, farming in the 1700’s typically included animals eating grass (in which they were built to eat), living on an open range farm, and treating the animals with respect. These changes came about due to an increase in demands for meat as well as the desire for more money.…

Some ways that they kill animals in factories is that with pigs they shove them all into a room and drop the floor to kill them all painfully with electricity and sometimes it doesn’t even completely kill them. With chickens, the males or babies they throw them into an actual blender hundreds at a time just because they aren’t fully grown or females. All of this just to feed our voracious appetites. Also, animals are put on display for our entertainment. Take tigers in circuses, for example, did you know that they are deathly afraid of fire, yet they’re whipped and forced to jump through hoops of it because we find it entertaining.…

Many people don’t realize how badly animals are treated on factory farms. They also have this idea that animals are treated “humanely” on certain factory farms. Animals are not treated humanely on factory farms in any way because no matter what factory farm they get sent to, they are abused, neglected, and forced to live unnatural and unhealthy lives. Animals on factory farms are abused in so many different ways. For instance, cows are dragged by their legs using machines and hit with hard objects to get them in trailers and pens.…

The Truth about Factory Farming Modern day factory farming practices have evolved over many years and can be traced back to the Industrial Revolution (Driscoll and Morley). For several years factory farms have allowed us to mass produce crops, meats, and other animal products. This helps to make foods more available and affordable for customers (Wright and Konzcal). However these farms haven’t gone unnoticed; in fact, they have raised numerous questions and have caused a great deal of controversy.…

The animal rights movement consists of privileged ideology based off emotion and no logic. Nathanael Johnson explores these ideals in “Is there a Moral Case for Meat?” and a couple in the film “At the Fork” explores the morality of farming. While the article and film seem to take similar stances on the farming of animals, I disagree. Humans do not have a responsibility to avoid meat or mitigate the suffering of farm raised animals.…

In The Young Vegetarians Companion, it says,”90% of livestock are raised in some sort of confinement today. That means they are put in crowded, filthy pens and cages and deprived of sunlight.” Factory farming is called so because the animals on these farms are treated as products on a conveyor belt, and not treated as living breathing animals. The owners of the farms completely disregard the animals basic rights’, such as living in a clean habitable cage. All of the animals are given antibiotics to make them grow faster and larger and also be able to survive in such disgusting living conditions.…

Animal Rights Should animals have rights? If so, should these rights be comparable to those given to humans? Animal Rights are rights believed to be owed to animals in order for them to live full lives, free from suffering. Animals are currently being used, and in some cases abused, in medical research, clothing industries, hunting for sport, food, and population control, and countless other services to humans. As is the case with all ethical issues, there are two defined perspectives and supporters of the current and future treatment given and due to animals.…
