Imagine stepping on the gas pedal in a Tesla Model S, and experiencing a lift off, unlike any other vehicle, going from 0-60 in around 2.8 seconds. The Tesla Model S isn’t any ordinary vehicle, it’s a high performance electric 4 door car that’s revolutionizing the vehicle industry. It’s available in both rear wheel and all wheel drive and achieved the highest safety rating in America in 2014. Electric cars have been around for several years, but they are just beginning to be mass produced at affordable prices and it couldn’t come at a better time. Electric vehicles have superior benefits when compared to a standard vehicle that runs on gasoline consisting of environmental, economic, and energy security benefits.

Due to electric vehicles are relatively new and a large amount of people haven’t been able to really experience what it’s like to own and drive an electric vehicle, so as you would expect there are a few misconceptions regarding them. A common misconception is that people may think that electric vehicles don’t have enough range and they worry about running out of power and being left with no way to charge your vehicle leaving them

Because electric vehicles don’t run on a standard engine that requires gasoline, they produce much lower emissions since they require no gasoline and only rely on electricity. Their emissions come from the power plants that generate the electricity to charge the car 's batteries, which is always less than a standard vehicle would produce. As numerous more power plants begin to use resources generated from wind and solar power as well as hydroelectric power the overall emissions will be reduced even further compared to coal powered power plants.
