Community gardens have been around for years, and they benefit the people who work in them as much as the people they feed. Not only will the community garden draw people together, they also grow more than food – the involvement in social community usually leads to long term relationships.

Gardening brings families and communities together, offers a good workout, equally important exercise has been associated with reducing risk factors for heart disease and cancer and provides you with seasonal vegetables and fruits. Dr. Mercola claims “A CNN Health article lists a number of the health benefits associated with gardening, spanning from stress relief to improved brain health, better nutrition and, of course,exercise.” CSCC can set up a fresh produce stand at Columbia Farmers ' Market who takes full advantage of surrounding farms and features vendors selling locally grown fruits and vegetables. Another incentive student can take home what he or she grows. Donated leftovers will go to the food pantrie to help those less fortunate. However, to help attract students to this organization each student and volunteer who participates in the project would receive a certificate for successful completion of the
