Solar Energy In North America

“Scientists and industry experts may disagree over how long the world 's supply of oil and natural gas will last, but it will end”, Collins said. As of 2014 the United States consumes and burns about 374.74 million gallons per day. As the nation begins to deplete their non-renewable resources, they are forced to search for a permanent replacement that will continue to power all of North America and other countries worldwide. However, the government will have to transition all of america into a clean energy provider and producer in order to reduce climate change and health issues across the nation and world, Although it is an expensive investment, alternate energy sources will aid the society in the future by providing clean energy, extending …show more content…
Real life effects of the greenhouse effect are melting glaciers, severe climate change, and change in ecosystems. To counter this effect, the president of the united states has ensured the nation to create clean energy and a green infrastructure as it can also benefit the american economy. He has also gone to state,"...we will double renewable energy production and renovate public buildings to make them more energy efficient." Although alternative energy is more pricy than traditional produced materials, renewable energy will aid in reducing pollution and help conserve fossil fuels which make up oil, coal, and natural gas. A form of alternate energy is Solar energy. Solar energy uses a solar-electric system that obtains light from solar rays and converts them into electricity that can power anything from small homes to large buildings. Most solar-electric solar units on sale today convert 11 to 13 percent of the sun 's light into electricity, but engineers think they can advance that. Another example of clean energy is Wind power. Wind power projects around the globe produce enough energy to power nine million U.S. homes according to a Washington,D.C.-based trade group known as the American …show more content…
They can also help in the local community by improving the employment opportunities ,and introducing a new career path to students and adults. As society begins to transition to alternate energy sources, the government will have to begin proposing alternate energy plans to set up employment and consistent production. Alternate energy proposals would transform America into a clean energy economy where more than three million people would be put to work right away in ready-to-go projects. However, employment is not the only issue that needs to be improved. A serious issue concerning public health is a growing danger to the population of the globe. Air pollution has created millions of asthma cases and several breathing problems. Air and water pollution by coal and natural gas plants is connected to breathing problems, neurological damage, heart attacks, and cancer. Substituting non-renewable energy with renewable energy has proved to reduce early death, lost workdays, and reduction in all healthcare

Governments around the world are working hard to find solutions for global warming. Governments may have a very positive effect on going energy efficient, if they like the idea they may make it mandatory that companies or houses all replace their equipment with more energy efficient equipment over time. If the government does not like the idea of going energy efficient there may be some negative effects, although you can still go more energy efficient if you would like to. The factor of politics can have a huge influence on this solution to global warming. Governments can improve its effectiveness by helping people and other nations move towards being more energy efficient.…

A popular belief is that if we switch over to alternative, renewable energy then all these jobs will go away and half a million people will become jobless, adding them into the mix of the unemployed. Many people believe that the alternative energy plants will not have enough jobs to provide to the people. However, this is not the case. Compared to fossil fuels, which are very mechanized, the renewable energy industry is more labor intensive. The renewable energy industry already supports thousands of jobs in the United States.…

In the US 60 percent of the oil consumed daily is imported from another country, creating a heavy dependence on foreign nations for energy. But erecting our own wind turbines across the nation could result in 100 percent of our electrical energy consumption coming from domestic sources, eliminating any reliance on other countries. With a domestic system in place, we would be covered in the case of a war or breaking of an alliance. A domestic source of energy would also allow the United States government to decrease spending on importing things such as oil and natural gas and would free up funds to spend on things such as improving bridges, social security, and even putting more money into the installation of more wind turbines! One of the main reasons the US has not made this change is because implementing wind energy would cost three times as much as coal burning energy.…

Knowing this the government and private corporations should collaborate to create a sufficient way to obtain solar energy, but it is not as simple as it sounds. Solar energy panels are expensive, and there are not enough panel farms (photovoltaic power plants) installed. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association and GTM Research, 878 MW (megawatts) of photovoltaic capacity and 78 MW, which translate to 0.078 gigawatts of concentrating solar power were installed in the United States in 2010. That was enough to supply around 200,000 homes with energy in the U.S. But being realistic that is only a small portion of the 125 million households in the U.S. A new recent study shows that in 2015, 30% of all new electricity generation capacity in the U.S came from solar power.…

The state of California alone has two gigawatts worth of solar power. Two gigawatts of power is enough for a plant to give out to power homes. New Jersey, New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado are not too far behind with their solar power. In the United States, more financial groups are coming up for homeowners to have solar power without the upfront cost. In 2013, the United States had eighty-five hundred megawatt capacity.…

The more the factories burn fossil fuels the more pollution it will cause, meaning more greenhouse effect due to the waste gases that is produced, which can cause a climate change. To reduce the burning of fossil fuels, we should take energy saving in consideration. This is why energy saving in my opinion is the easiest way that we can do to help reducing global warming. One of the best ways we can do that is by replacing our old regular incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (cfl), since CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. Also we can turn off the lights and electrical devices that we are not using.…

One of the biggest problems the current generation of Americans face is rapid climate change, and its impact on the environment. There’s no denying the fact that human are the leading cause of carbon emissions; a problem that must be fixed for the sake of future generations. Many believe clean energy is the answer, and seemingly always point toward solar or wind. While these forms of clean energy are very effective solution to the greater problem, nuclear power isn’t nearly as relevant topic of political discussion as it should be. A nuclear plant works very similar to a traditional plant except nuclear fission is used to create the steam rather than burning coal.…

Money used to restore these ancient power plants causes inflation in monthly electric bills. Low income families that already have a hard time making ends meet, cannot afford a higher electric bill. Hospitals will have to raise their cost of medical care in order to pay for the electric that runs lifesaving equipment. Insurance companies would have to raise the deductible for current and new customers. In the EPA’s attempt of making utility power plants burn fuels that are more efficient, these companies will continue burning coal or oil.…

One of the most important issues today for the left is climate change, rampant disregard for the environment will leave the world in shambles. There are a few current issues for the environment as well, like whether to allow fracking and the keystone pipeline. While most Republicans still deny it is a thing the Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, have both put forth their own plans to combat its effects. Hillary’s plan mainly involves solar power plants providing energy, wanting to build 500 million panels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions over many years. Bernie on the other hand wants to use several sources of clean energy like wind power, improve our electrical infrastructure, and to create a fossil fuel free country.…

Much of our economy relies on industrialization and this has consequences for our Earth. Factories are used for these industries and most of them give off smoke that can harm our atmosphere. However, there are industries that are environmentally friendly and promote going green by using renewable resources for energy rather than fossil fuels like other industries. Going green is a major controversy in the world today and many scientists are concerned about the future climate. Earth today is being destroyed by pollution and we need to make sure it does not get worse by making going green required by law with the benefit of not only a healthy planet, but saving money from our wallet, and a successful business.…
