any cancer patients go through rigorous, painful treatments in order to kill the harmful cancer cells in their body, one of these treatments is chemotherapy. Over 650,000 people receive chemotherapy in America every year (Dunbar). Chemotherapy has several horrible side effects such as nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, nerve and muscle pain, and throat sores. Many studies have shown the effects of marijuana can help combat the side effects of chemotherapy. Marijuana has been shown to help patients experiencing muscle and nerve pain. Chemicals in marijuana are able to block pain receptors and lessen the pain felt (“Marijuana as Medicine”). It has also been proven to help relieve nausea of those who are going through chemotherapy.
