The Benefits Of Changing Spanish

Decent Essays
As more people identify as being Gender Neutral or a part of the trans* umbrella, people have been pushing for the Spanish language (which is highly gendered) to adapt to using more gender-neutral friendly pronouns and conjugations. However, this push has created a lot of opposition, as many claim that this is “changing Spanish” and that activists should leave the language alone. This implies that those who are under this umbrella should not be included in the language, though this alienates many folks who feel the language is a large part of their heritage.
