The whole idea of arming teachers is irresponsible and ultimately absurd. Arming teachers would be a careless way to spend valuable school funds. According to a Washington Post analysis if we followed Presidents Trumps plans to twenty percent of teachers the cost would be quite high. In total there are 3.6 million private and public-school teachers in the nation. Twenty percent of that would be 718,000 educators. To arm those teachers, they would need to invest in basic gun safety courses and firearms. Taking all costs into consideration we would end with a hefty price tag anywhere from $251 million to $1 billion (Bump). Valuable school funds would be wasted on weapons and training while we could be supplying students with supplies for learning.
