The Benefits Of A Fad Diet

Our society is always striving for the quest to be thin, yet many Americans are overweight and obese. It’s no wonder you see so many diet gimmicks and plans on the market. Fad diets have been around for many years but often fade away as consumers realize they do not hold up to their promises. One fad diet that has been around for years and is my personal favorite is the Atkins diet.
The Atkins Diet was first introduced in the 1970’s. This Diet stresses the reduction of carbohydrates and an increase in protein with a disregard for fat. It restricts “bad” carbs such as processed, prepackaged junk foods., white sugar and flour and high starch vegetables. Induction is the beginning phase, it is quite drastic, restricting carbs to only 20 a day
