After the atomic bomb struck Japan, many people suffered from the aftermath of the radiations and the “acid rains” which was raindrops containing particles from the atmosphere containing carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide. Radiation from the bomb penetrated deeply into human body and cells, and thus molecules, resulting in cell death, inhibited cell division, abnormalities of intracellular molecules and membranes. Since the atomic bomb was the first nuclear bomb ever made, the sideeffects of the radiation was unknown. Being tested on humans, especially the Japanese, made it seem like they were just an experiment, like a mouse in a laboratory. “This is not war, this is not even murder; this is pure nihilism… a crime against God which strikes at the very basis of moral existence”(Japanese Nippon Times). The reasons that the United states decided to use this unknown nuclear weapon on Hiroshima was not for military purposes but because they wanted to know the outcomes from something brand new and if it was a successful investment. The main reason why the U.S. joined the war is because of the attack made by Japan. Even after all its allies in the axis power surrendered, the commitment of winning, or losing, with honor was driving Japan to persisting and fight till the end.
