BENCHMARKERS. Is level of quality that can be used as a standard when comparing other things like outstanding performances or to measure the quality of something by comparing it with something else of an accepted standard (Cambridge University Press, 2016). The Benchmarking network, the in-house benchmarking service of the NHS, it exists to identify and share good practice across the health and social care sector. The delivery of good outcomes and excellent patient experience is part of the roles of the network in sharing in sharing best practice across the all healthcare services, example is the Francis Inquiry into Mid-Staffordshire in 2010, where many patients died unnecessarily as result of low standard care and staff failings. Measuring performance is very essential for the continuous service, improvement to assure progress. These are what each organisation use to as evidence of how well they are doing enable them to plan appropriate action to monitor changes over time. Performance measures is also used for benchmarking which encourage organisations to share good practice. Housing related support providers are required to submit a PI Workbook as an example every quarter. It is contractual requirement and data collected is submitted to Communities and Local Government (CLG). NHS also assesse its performance workers in their work. It is compulsory for every work place to have laws of the land that must use in places of work. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 must be considered for people who use the service and are aged 16 and over to determine whether they lack capacity to consent. Health and safety regulation – Safe practice is very important in the promotion of dignity in care. There a few legislative measures and regulations to support health and safety at work. These are to protect people in work and those using the services and the wider public. Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Local Authority Trading Standards and Care Quality Commission (CQC) can prosecute any care provider who breach the health and safety standards. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) quality standards set out the priority areas for quality improvement in health and social care. Standards are independently developed by NICE, in collaboration with health and social care professionals, practitioners and service uses (NICE.Org.uk).
