People should have a sense of awe
This week, I finished reading a book called The Beginner’s Bible. It was ridiculous and absurd for me that the progress of reading the book, because I was a atheist completely. In the book, almost every story talked about God and his disciple. Besides, everyone should believe in God and be in awe of him. Otherwise, they would be punished fiercely and chose to believe in God at last. But in fact, as we all known, there was no God. Therefore, I didn’t understand the true meaning of the book at all when I finished it for the first time.
However, I knew gradually a truth that people should have a sense of awe, even if they didn’t be in awe of deities, after I had read it some times and thought about it seriously.

In ancient times, people were in awe of nature. But now, people destroy nature severely. As a result, many rare wild animals had become extinct, because their living environment was gravely destroyed. What’s more, all kinds of pollution became much heavier. For example, there were severe smog in Beijing and other large cities in recent years. Obviously, these results also were harmful to men’s survival and development. Consequently, people must stop to improve the environment and get on well with various kind of animals. In other words, people shouldn’t think that people could conquer nature so that they could get everything which only was good for them and didn’t care other beings.
Above all, I thought that people should awe every living individual and great nature.
However, it didn’t mean that people should be afraid of all beings, and stop the step of development. Instead, people should go on developing their technology meanwhile protecting nature and all beings very well. For example, the technology which people continued developing must be beneficial for the environment. In my opinion, the sense of awe also meant a feeling of sympathy and selfless spirit. As the saying said, “Do not do to others what you would not have them do to you do as you would be done by”.
To sum up, people should have a sense of

This week, the reading selections were quite interesting. We have these two authors, Taylor and Epstein, who truly approach the environmental topic in separate ways. On one hand, we have Paul Taylor defending our environment all the way in the article “The Ethics of Respect for Nature”. In this article, Taylor insists that we switch our current perspectives, regarding the environment, to ones that further zoom in on the sake of nature. In fact, Taylor states that “once we reject the claim that humans are superior either in merit or in worth to other living things, we are ready to adopt the attitude of respect” (330).…

The main problem that generates extinction is human activity; people cause extinction every day and unknowingly to them, it is killing innocent animals. Due to pollution, natural forces, human interaction, and loss of habitats, animal extinction is a major crisis in the world; people are the only ones that can save the animal population before it is too late. Areas that have been effected by overconsumption and the conflict this has on nature and society The natural world has fallen victim to the anthropocentric ideal of evolution as the natural world has been overconsumed by society in order for global development. Cronon (1995) states that natures worth is measured and judged by civilisation, claiming that society produces a dualistic world of humans and nature being placed at opposite ends of the spectrum. This ideal is ironic seeing as development cannot be achieved without nature, and nature cannot be sustained and conserved without the protection of society. Cronon (1995) displays the false truths of society as we live in an urbanized world although beliefs are held that our natural home…
