One of the dance revealed anxiety and fear on her face when the other disappeared, like she had just lost the other part of her own when the other dancer “ disappeared ” on the stage – which was actually just her hiding behind a curtain tactfully. In a more salient section, the seated dancer is tossed about like a rag doll as the other dancer shook her heads. The fear of her dropping her head off flashed into my mind at that time, while I comforted myself that this was a hilarious idea and it would definitely not turn to truth. And I was glad that my worries finally were proved to be evitable. In addition, each toss back and forth seems to complicate the connection between the two female dancers. Some of the impressive scenes of Right & Left came when the two dancers fell into despondency. In a particularly poignant scene, one dancer stood hunched and blank-faced, like the drooping backbone of an abandoned house. Beside her, the other dance was swinging from her knees. It was beautiful with some sorrow, ethereal with some creepiness. I did not considered Right & Left to be about romantic relationship or bisexual orientation, but there was such a muddled, unemotional intimacy going on on the stage through the
