Every class was done in person and all assignments were done on paper and handed in to the professor. That was amazing to me to see how the school was set in its old ways. I actually enjoyed the experience in every manner. Now I am taking all online classes at Ivy Tech, which is so convenient and necessary for my life style, and these courses were not forced on me. If I want to I can take in person classes and that’s the beauty of technology. Esther Dyson makes an amazing point in pointing out that technology is not forced, it is an option and if people do not want it they can excommunicate it and be done. I have chosen to embrace technology and how it has helped me become a step closer to my Bachelor’s Degree. Ivy Tech has done such an amazing job at incorporating technology from mymathlab to enrolling in classes to paying for school. All of this you can do from the comfort of your own home due to technology. That is all now but a decade from now I foresee being able to put a thumbprint on your computer and schools being able to determine the best major to fit your personality. With technology advancing every single day who knows if colleges will even have an option for face-to-face classes in the future. Intrapersonal skills (nonverbal and verbal skills) are skills that help us in day-to-day life interact with others in person. It has gotten to the point where people no longer sit down and have a conversation. It is now all texting and video chatting. When people come together for a social event they all have their phones glued to their hands constantly enthralled with the technology they are grasping. It is just like Author Jaron Lanier stated at the end of the video, people who stay constantly plugged in to technology will end up not being able to get dates because they do not know how to communicate with others.
