Essay On Becoming A Peer Advocate

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Everyone has dreams.Weather they want to be a world class surgeon, a big shot lawyer, or even the next President of the United States. I have three essential dreams that I plan to achieve. I plan to make a difference in the world, by being a peer advocate. I value my family most, and to have my own someday would truly make me happy. Currently, I am a senior at Waimea High School, who is very eager to graduate. I have attended Waimea High School since I was a freshman. Last school year, I ended the year with a GPA of 3.8. I hoped for a 4.0 but fell a little short. I also received an award for academic excellence. I was on the girls varsity softball team for two years, but decided to take a year off and focus on school more. I am also in the National Spanish Honor Society. If I could do my high school year all over again, I …show more content…
I have always desired to be a peer advocate. Today, there are many children in the world who are abused in many ways, and feel unloved. No child should ever feel that way. Most of all, they are afraid to speak up, reason being because most times they are being abused by a relative. This is where i would come in. I’d speak up for them, listen to them, and fight for them. I want to create a program where children are welcome to stay, and for them to feel safe. This is a very personal issue to me, which is why it’s very important to me. My number one goal is to speak at high schools, elementary schools, and middle schools. To let them know that they aren’t alone, it’s okay to speak up, and that there is someone out there who is willing to fight for

Going to college has always been something I looked forward to going to and something that I had to do. Since I am the first generation of my family to attend college straight after high school, my parents made it very clear to me that I had to go. Also because I am the oldest of my siblings, I would have to set an example so that they can do the same and therefore follow in my footsteps. My parents will constantly tell me how college is extremely important and how getting a degree will make life easier.
