North America is filled with countless geographical wonders, and a plethora of breathtaking seasonal and non-seasonal sights, but none compare to the beauty of fall in Dixie. Weather in the Deep South can be extreme, and is notorious for its unpredictability; however, for a few short months some of the most pleasant and enjoyable days on earth will take place. Sunny and 65 is a reality, and traditions such as tailgating and hunting begin just as they have for years. Fall is the most enjoyable time of year because of the combination of blissful weather, traditional happenings, and the sheer physical beauty of our Southern land. The American South is known nationwide for being very hot and very humid, and these allegations are completely founded on truth, but as with most cases the coin isn’t one sided. Summer down south is miserably hot and some days unbearably muggy. Winter can be equally as harsh and unforgiving, but the times in between make the entire year worth sweating and freezing through. Fall weather is the perfect combination of hot, cold, and colors. Shades of yellow, green, and red blanket the land as cool breezes and cloudy days slowly replace the sweltering heat and erratic storms. Football season is almost a religious experience for many people, and every weekend millions around the South observe. Whether you’re in the tar heel state or the swamplands of Louisiana, college football is king. The beginning of hunting season is what millions of inhabitants wait months for. Duck hunters and deer hunters alike revel in the good times and camaraderie that only being in the woods can bring.
