"The Bear and the Bow" is the sixth episode of the fifth season of the American fantasy drama series Once Upon a Time. The action in this ten minutes part of the episode takes place in the functional seaside town of Storybroke - Maine in the present, and in Camelot in the past (six weeks ago), which residents are actually characters from various fairy tales and other stories transported to the real world.Episodes usually have one segment that details the characters' past lives that, when serialized, adds a piece to the puzzle about the characters and their connection to the events that preceded the curse and its consequences. The other, set in the present day, follows a similar pattern with a different outcome but also offers similar insights.

The readings in this class were quite interesting and made me view different situations from someone else’s perspective. With all the books and stories we were responsible for this class, I connected to three wonderful stories for two particular reasons. As a young doctor, and doctor in general, there will be times when you develop a strong attachment towards a patient that may affect you mentally or a patient comes in with symptoms that are not recognizable. When I become a doctor, I always worried how I would react under pressure and whether I would become too emotionally attached to my patient; that is why I connected to The Scalpel and the Silver Bear, From the Heart and My Own Country, short stories from the book A Life in Medicine. These…

Mirta Ojio’s book Hunting Season, Immigration and Murder in an All-American Town is based on a true story of an immigrant’s murder that turned a small American town on Long Island village of Patchogue into a war zone for immigration rights. In this critical reflection paper, I will discuss and analyze three key issues or themes that were represented in the Hunting Season and elaborate how these concepts connect with those of Governing Immigration through Crime by Dowling and Inda. The first concept is that of the Membership Theory, a theory which “limits individual rights and privileges to the members of a social contract between the government and the people” (Dowling & Inda,2013). The Membership theory often marks out boundaries of who is an accepted member of society and who isn’t, which was demonstrated in Hunting Season when Marcelo Lucero traveled from Ecuador to Long Island.…

Each of the characters in The Berenstain Bears children’s books display traditional and outdated gender roles, and these portrayals are apparent in each of the books.…

Memories, with or without context, play a key role as plot devices in both Away from Her and “Bear Came Over the Mountain.” Used to provide context for their only semi-chronological story lines, memories in the story and movie alike give solid glimpses of the past that allow the plot to move forward. One of the most prominent memories, in both the story and the movie, and certainly the clearest of the latter, is the section in which Grant and Fiona go on a walk/ski in a park. The substantial differences between the scene and the passage, range from difference in dialogue to difference in visuals. This section is an excellent example of the drastic differences sometimes found in adaptations, and allows for the presentation of a case for the…
