Personal Narrative: My First Experience At The Melia Caribe Tropical Resort

Improved Essays
As I looked out at the gorgeous light blue Caribbean Sea I saw a large white boat in the distance with a rope connected to a parachute sailing over it with multiple people in the boat. My family and I were standing on the pure white Dominican Republic sand waiting for our turn to take the dinghy out and meet the parasail boat for our first experience parasailing ever. The sky was as clear and blue as could be, with absolutely no clouds and the sun beaming on each and every one of the vacationers on the beach. The beach and pool area at the Melia Caribe Tropical Resort was extremely dense with people vacationing from all over the world. My parents and I were actually talking about how diverse the population was with people from Spain, France, …show more content…
My parents and I hopped in the boat as the captain instructed us to do, and we sat tight next to each other as there were approximately 12 other parasailers on the boat with us. When we arrived to the parasail boat there were many other vacationers onboard that had just finished their ride and were now waiting to get back to shore. We exchanged positions one at a time as it was unstable with the water as a hindrance to controlled movement. Once we all got onto the parasail boat and the others onto the dinghy, we drove away and onto the beginning of our experience we …show more content…
It was completely breath taking. We saw all of the other resorts down the beach as far as our eyes could see. The beach was so dense with people and the clear blue sky matching with the clear blue ocean was exhilarating. The sand was perfectly white and all of the palm trees in the distance provided a perfect layout of vegetation. After the driver gave us a few minutes to view the island in a circle he took us for a run down the beach. He started by pulling back the throttle and we started descending almost immediately. Then at the very last second he throttled the engine up and cranked that powerhouse. We fell for a couple more seconds and as soon as our feet touched the water, we starting ascending again. He timed it perfectly. Next he started driving side to side to make us sway in the air. We enjoyed the ride to the fullest extent possible and after about five more minutes of taking in all of it we started to make our final descent. We discussed how great the ride was on our way back down and when we landed on the parasailing platform we all looked at each other and smiled as we knew we just had one of the best experiences of our lives. I don’t think very many people can say that they have parasailed over the Caribbean Sea and the coast of the Dominican Republic, and I knew I was very lucky to say that I have done

At the age of 21, having her first daughter, my mother did not have an education beyond the sixth grade. Three years later we were abandoned by my fleeing father to fend for ourselves in a small and rural community. Growing up on the small Caribbean island of St. Lucia, my mother struggled for many years to support her small family. Four years ago, we made our way to Florida, along with my younger sister, where we resided with friends. Although I graduated high school in St. Lucia, my mother did not have the finances to aid with my college expenses, thus she insisted that I again attend high school to provide her with ample time to obtain some form of income.…

I parasailed with my mother and sister. Parasailing is when you’re in a harness connected to a parachute, which is also connected to a boat. When the boat speeds up, you’re lifted up into the sky. While we were up there we saw a Cow-shoe Stingray! From the top view of the ocean the water seemed aquamarine rather than blue.…

The whole crew was super pshyced, everyone was super hyper and bursting with energy as if we had all drank a fifty gallon can of Redbull. We had just discovered one of the most prestigious waves of Mexico, we could have only imagined it in our most prized day dreams. Everyone was about to jump into the ridiculously crystal clear water when suddenly Emiliano, a member of our adventurous group of friends that was a proud owner of a pale pink Volkswagen hippy van with a fascination of vintage cameras shouted with excitement. “Oigan” “let’s take a picture of the crew with my brand new vintage Canon FT” “we will want to remember this in a couple of years.” Everyone huddled up and he snapped the shot.…

So when we got on the boat and got our fishing poles ready, we sat down waiting for the boat to start. When we left the dock I was nervous because I have never been far out in the sea. When we were out on the water I was scared for about an hour then I got use to it. When we got to our destination, everyone started fishing.…

Exhilarating: a term making one feel very happy, animated, or elated, would be the perfect word to describe what the day had in store for us eager, and jubilant grade 6 students. A thrilled and luminous smile lit up on my enthusiastic face as I ambled on the same rugged, cracked, gray tinted sidewalk that I had sauntered on everyday for a year. The serene, endless sky was the perfect shade of aqua as the light, silky, radiant clouds formed delicate shapes. The sun was glistening with great luminosity. Suddenly I heard someone screaming my name well not really; it was my nickname, one that really agitated me in an incredibly obnoxious way, “Babikathu wait up”.…
