Though this tapestry is a very interesting piece of history, it is also a very elaborate piece of art work. Embroidered in the eleventh century, the Bayeux Tapestry includes eight separate linen sections and uses eight colors of wool yarn. The tapestry measures to be seventy meters (about 230 feet) in length and about a half-meter (about 2 feet) in width. It is also said that the Bayeux Tapestry was constructed in a workshop in the town of Canterbury. Interestingly enough, about 20 feet of the Bayeux Tapestry is missing. No one is sure what the missing piece held, but it is speculated that it was deliberately removed and destroyed.
