A man, john, enters the army thinking he’ll be taken care of the way he’s willing to take care of his country. After finishing straining and doing everything he has to do he get’s sent to Afghanistan. While at war he experiences dreadful times and goes through a lot of pain but none compared to what was about to happen, he get’s hurt and soon learns he’ll never be able to walk again. He wasn’t able to fight anymore because he just didn’t have any fight left in him. He leaves home and he get’s nothing expecting so much from the army but didn’t get anything, they sent a few college letters but school was never really something he wanted to do. Veterans are at a high risk of homelessness due to the low or no income, their living conditions, or mental conditions that may have acquired from being at war and all the traumatic experiences they have experience, this keeps them from getting a real job and moving on with their lives, bonds with their families are damaged due to how far away they are and for how long. 63 percent of veterans served, are serving, or have served this country for at least 3 years. All these things are reasons are causes of homelessness of veterans. Sadly this issue is far from over. Veterans aren’t given the benefits that they should be rewarded for all the good they do. Many people think that veterans are well supported, even veterans themselves thought that by going into the military that financially they would be taken care of, many other don’ t have any other option and joining the armed forces is their only option. Roughly one and a half million have in comes that are right below the poverty level. Due to how many homeless veterans there is the VA doesn’t know about building houses for them. As much as they may say how much their doing for the good of the veterans, nothing is getting to them. There are approximately 500,00 veterans experiencing homelessness. Some get to about 20 percent of them but that isn’t much done. There are about 400,00 veterans still left any help or service from the department supporting them. It’s sad how the government says how much they care and that they want to fix the issue but there isn’t anything being done about the issue. No one seems to be doing anything to get rid of veteran homelessness once and for all. Other federal, state, and local public agencies aren’t responding the way people would like to the housing for homeless veterans.
