The Battle of Alamo was very important in Texas history because it gave Texas its freedom back from Mexico. It was a very different battle because only 800 people died, unlike other wars. Davy Crockett, a famous soldier, lead a team of Texans into battle, one squad were firing their rifles, while another squadron burnt down huts that the Mexican military was using for cover. Another thing that set this battle apart, was that the battle only lasted for 13 days. Mexico had a huge advantage over Texas. Texas had about 200 people fighting including Davy Crockett, versus 1,800 Mexican soldiers. Even with this huge advantage, Texas prevailed. It starts off on the northwest side near the mountain but it soon sinks into the urban east. The northwest side has the Rocky Mountains. South of the mountains there is the Rio Grande, one of the most known river in Texas. Texas also borders Mexico and is in the middle of the U.S. The Mountains hold a compulsive view of the crowded streets of Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. Toward the west, there are hot scorching deserts. One of the many deserts is called the Chihuahuan Desert. This desert stretches out through Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
