The Kokoda organisation specifies that the Japanese were forced to abandon their plan to take Port Moresby. This affected Australia as if the Japanese were able to do this it could have let to war on Australia. John Curtin’s speech places Australia on a war footing and states “I make it quite clear that Australia looks to America, free of any pangs as to out traditional links or kinship with the United Kingdom”. This made an incredible impact on Australia as they now look to America and are placed on a domestic war footing, which pushed the men out and conscripted into the pacific war leaving women to go into the workforce. Without this happening Women might have not been able to work or have a say today, this truly changed and shaped Australia as a nation. Along with the war changing Australian policies this war had significant impacts on people and countries. Many Australians were killed and wounded along with other countries Soldiers. Without this the Pacific countries would be different. Thanks to Australia Papua New Guinea still stands today as an independent country. Therefore without these actions the Pacific world would be very different
