It was the adrenaline that was kicking in and I was more than ready to run fast. The order of runners was different this time because I switched with my teammate Ian. I worked on running out of the blocks since my start was the most explosive on the team. This means when you start down on the running blocks and the official shoots the gun off, I was the strongest coming out of them. We were all in position all around the track by our starting points and I got down first in blocks. The gun went off so fast and everyone and everything around me was so silent. I ran super-fast and handed the baton off to my teammate Ian. He ran super-fast and by that time we could tell we were in the lead. He had an awesome handoff the Dez who held the lead around the second turn on the track. By the time, he gave it to Dave, our last runner, we were winning by at least 10 meters. This is a big gap for such a short race on the track. Dave brought it home and finished first. We beat our previous season best time of 43.1. This time we ran a 42.9. This was extremely fast for a high school team. It was probably because we ran the race in North Carolina where the weather was at least 80 degrees. We didn’t make the finals the next day though because it was only the top six fastest teams. We missed the qualifying time by one tenth of a second. It sucks but I was more than proud of my teammates and myself. I couldn’t thank my coach enough for giving us all his effort to train us for this race and giving us the opportunity to fly down there and compete. Now, I had the whole summer off and before I knew it my senior year would be around the
