In the story, the boy was torn between two decisions, catching a bass, or continue his date with Shelia. He could have chosen the fish because, the boy was an avid fisherman. He had the chance to catch a huge bass, but Shelia is not particularly a huge fan of fishing. He could have chosen the girl because he has had a huge crush on her ever since she moved next store. He thinks she is breathtakingly gorgeous, and has finally asked her out after contemplating about it for the longest time. I have to decide whether to go to my cousin’s birthday party, or go to homecoming. I could go to my cousin’s birthday party because she is family after all, and the whole “family comes first quote” really comes into play. I could go to homecoming because I am a freshman, and this is my first homecoming at Sartell High School. Also, it would be a great way to become more accustomed to the high school. It is obvious that I can connect to the boy in the story. He has to decide whether to catch the bass, or continue the date with his dream girl, Shelia.
