I am reading “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” by W.D. Wetherell, and I am on page 5. So far this story is about a boy who has a huge crush on a girl named Sheila Mant. They end up going on a date, when he realizes he’s caught a giant fish, but can’t let Sheila know. In this journal I will be predicting and connecting.

One question I had while reading this short story is whether he would choose the girl or the fish. One option he could choose was the girl. One reason he would choose the girl, is how much he really likes her. Some proof of this is how much he watches her and spends time looking at her.
