Candles in the U.S. today are mostly made of paraffin wax,wicks that contain heavy metals such as lead, and artificial scents. These ingredients along with some others create a great amount of indoor air pollution and harm to your body. The paraffin wax releases toxins that are equivalent to those found in diesel fuel fumes. Some wicks contain heavy metals which when burned are released into the air, are harmful to children and those with lung problems. Parents with small children and people with respiratory issues should be completely aware of this. Because of the large amount of problems caused by metal in candle wicks, it was banned in 2003. Although wicks that contain metal are banned in the U.S., today around 30% of the candles
