In this quote we come to an understanding of a teacher 's standard goal. Freire explains that, “instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiques and makes deposits which the students patiently receive, memorize and repeat” (257). Here Freire stresses on the importance that students become receptive learners which also means that they are expected to complete the work of memorization without question. I agree that the lack of communication with student-teacher does not prepare students for the real world because my years of memorizing definitions from textbooks confirm that it was not beneficial. Ultimately memorization is irrelevant and a huge waste of time. First handily seeing 16 year olds without proper communication skills allow us to question their foundation. This is a skill that is needed throughout life yet not prioritized in teacher 's curriculum. Learning that is filled with repetition can be categorized as busy work that is considerably easy yet not effective. School work should be worthwhile, influential and awakening. It is time to submit change and remove ourselves from this standardized pattern of memorize, test and forget. Often after spending hours memorizing, it becomes distant and not worthy of memory space yet again proving how ineffective and irrelevant banking education is. …show more content…
Yet in order to obtain this we must have a good foundation and materials to thrive. This banking education has failed many students to due to its incapabilities. Here we look at Freire’s take on the creative nature in this concept of education. For example we see that, “the capability of banking education to minimize or annul the students’ creative power and to stimulate their credulity serves the interest of the oppressors” (Freire 258). In other words banking education deprives the right of creativity while filling an illusion in which the students accept everything as truth wholeheartedly. Once again this is purposeful as it encourages and reinforces the oppressors false contradictions in which they themselves believe. Creativity should be encouraged as it allows the brain to reach its full potential. Allowing discoveries to be made and limitless possibilities that may or may not better our future. The banking Concept is fit for the educators benefit (good intentions or bad). In short once again this system proves to rob the student 's right of creative
