Rules are what keep you from getting in trouble but it’s up to one if they would like to follow those rules. There’s always a reason for why one broke them or if one just would want to challenge those rules. There should always be a good reason if you one is wanting to challenge those rules like if the rules are unfair and someone can think they can prove one wrong. Two of the excerpts are The Ballad of Birmingham by Dudley Randall and Candide by Voltaire. Both are slightly different when it comes to challenging the rules. It mostly referred of a kid wanting to join a freedom march. She didn't end up going, instead went to the church choir. To the time that she had gotten there an explosion occurred and all the mother had found was the shoe. The girl wanted to join the march but the mom didn't want to let her go . “Not including the the guns and police” but as the little girl thinking because her friends are going that everything would be alright but no everyone would know what would happen if she were to go. The reason she wanted to go is because at the time they were probably fighting for their rights and make the country free from all the bads that were probably happening in the town. The daughter wanted to challenge the rules wasn’t able to “The mother was in fear of those guns firing so she wanted instead for her to go to church and sing with choir”. She wanted nothing to happen to her if she were to go to march for freedom. The mother would now be happy only because she was in a place that she would think that nothing would ever happen to her but nothing ever goes according to plan. For the mom she would never would expect to see “one last smile out of her daughter but only to find a shoe that she had wore” in piles of brick and glass that was left of the church.
