Some of the punishments were loss of office, destruction of one 's home, slavery, prison, and shaving of one 's head. If the crime was severe enough the person 's family could be harmed. Some of the more severe crimes included treachery, theft, and violation of priest rule of chastity. Other severe crimes could be punishable by death, such as, perjury, rape, abortion, homicide, selling stolen properties, destruction of crops, incest, and many more. If a younger person were to become drunk, the punishment could also be a death sentence.
