The Axolotl was first founded in 1789, in Mexico City. The labs that they were founded in and tested on were in Paris. They are born on land but live the rest of their lives in water like fish. Now since the Mexico City waters are empty there are no Axolotls left there. They are very messy animals that have to have deep water. Since 2011 the Axolotl population dropped from 1,500 square miles to 25 square miles. 1,200 may seem like a really big number for such a tiny animal but it’s not. Just like cats and dogs there used to be hundreds on top of hundreds on top of thousands of them. “I am really curious on how long it will be until they die. Think of it as if everybody in this whole town got 1 dog or 1 cat, and that was it. There were no more cats or dogs on the planet. Could you imagine the animal food sales. They would slow down, water supplies would go down, and pet stores would soon run out of business.
