The Axeman of New Orleans has never been found. In Johnston (2014)he found that a man known as “the Axeman” began terrorizing the city of New Orleans in 1918 and 1919 (pg.1). The axeman would randomly kill residents with an axe . The person responsible for the axeman murders was never found. In Swancer (2016), he found that there were two main suspects in the axeman murders. The primary suspects were: Joseph Mumfre, and Andrew Maggio( para. 22, 14). Unfortunately, there was not enough evidence to fully accuse one of them for the series of murders committed by the axeman. Some people even think that the act of the series of murders was not an act of a human being, but of a supernatural being (Swancer, 2016, ). The fact of so many murders seem too bizarre to have been cased by just one average person(para. 14). Who was the axeman,and what was his motive for the series of murders? Celestin (2014) he found the a note that the axeman had written (pg. 16). In Taylor (2004), he found that the note had been sent to the editor of the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper. The note left by the axeman stated as following:
They have never caught me and they never will. They have never seen me, for I am invisible, even as the ether that surrounds your earth. I am not a human being, but a spirit and a demon from the hottest hell. I am what you Orleanians and your foolish police call the Axeman. When I see fit, I shall come and claim other victims.
