A. According to the book, “adults, according to federal standards, should get 45 to 65 percent of calories from carbohydrates, 20 to 35 percent from fat, and 10 to 35 percent from protein” (pg. 143). By looking at my 7-day food log, it seems that I am not consuming enough carbohydrate calories into my diet; the average consumption of carbohydrate calories daily for me was anywhere from 23% to 47% which is considered to be low according to federal standards. For protein calories, it seems that I am not consuming enough protein calories into my diet as well; the average consumption of protein calories daily for me was anywhere from 9% to 24% which is considered to be also low according to federal standards. As for fat calories, it seems that I am not consuming enough fat calories into my diet; the average consumption of fat calories daily for me was anywhere from 10% to 25% which is …show more content…
After looking at my 7-day food log it gave me a glimpse of what changes I would need to consume more carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. By creating nutritional plan it will help guide me in improving and taking control of my health. For step 1, I would like to intake more carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are found in many of the foods that enjoy eating such as grains, vegetables, and fruits. In taking more carbohydrates will not only enable me to have more energy but it will also help improve my health. For step 2, I would like to intake more lean protein since it has many benefits. Obtaining more lean protein will allow me to lose weight, improve my heath health, and give my body more energy to make my body thrive throughout the day. Eating white meat chicken, beans, and lean cuts of beef will give me the proteins my body needs. Finally for step 3, I would like to intake more unsaturated fats. Unsaturated fats are beneficial for my body since they not only can help manage cholesterol but they also help with weight loss, unsaturated fats are found in almonds, peanut butter, and

    The calculated goal intake for carbohydrates in anywhere in the range of 1134-1639 calories, and my intake was 1087 calories.
