“I believe in evolution, scientific inquiry, and global warming; I believe in free speech, whether politically correct or politically incorrect, and I am suspicious of using government to impose anybody 's religious beliefs -including my own- on nonbelievers.” That brilliant quote was written by President Barack Obama in his book, The Audacity of Hope. I for one, completely agree with this statement. When we talk about what evolution truly means there is a disconnect in the scientific community. These artifacts told us a lot about the mental abilities of the three species, and the selective pressures they had to maintain a social structure, sustainable diet and the pressures of survival. Homo erectus had the most interesting artifact in my humble opinion. That artifact was the world’s first doodle. To me it showed me that these creatures were far more incredible and talented than I had originally gave them credit for. I wasn’t sure of their ability to comprehend or think, but learning that fact truly changed my mind. What is truly interesting is the fact that the earliest doodles had meanings we are unsure of. They could have been used for art, to warn of danger, or even to impress a girl. Homo sapiens today often leave behind many things such as the art we create, or even the fossils we leave behind. What is so fascinating is how they created such a sophisticated and effective ways to catch food in a timely manner. It tells you a lot about their intense will to survive. Chimps, to my surprise, had a few art tricks up their sleeves or coats if we are being technical. Chimps have been known to draw works of art. One in particular is Congo, a zoo chip know to draw over 400 works of art. Through the art was abstract it was truly impressive none the less. I learned of this when I was younger and the question brought a thousand memories back into my head, this let me know that the animal is not as disposable or useless as people sometimes conclude.
