September 11th, 8:45 a.m.: A large hijacked airliner, Flight 11, crashes into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, tearing a gaping hole in the building and setting it on fire. 9:03 a.m.: A second plane, Flight 175, a passenger jet, crashes into the South World Trade Center tower and explodes. Both buildings are burning, creating alarm throughout the entire world. 9:30 a.m.: George Bush, speaks in Florida, he explains that the USA has endured an "apparent terrorist attack." 9:43 a.m.: An aircraft, Flight 77, collides with the Pentagon, sending up an all-consuming measure of dark smoke. These assaults were the consequence of a "holy war", proclaimed against the United States by Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden 's indignation started with the United States ' 1990 choice by Saudi Arabia to permit the U.S. to stage assaults on Iraqi drives in Kuwait and Iraq. After the U.S. victory, the U.S. military presence became permanent. The attacks themselves resulted in approximately $40 billion in insurance losses, making it one of the largest insured events ever. Because of the attacks, the opening of the NYSE was delayed and after the South Tower was hit, the buildings were closed resulting in a large economic loss. Due to the insurance, construction, clean-up and other costs, the USA had $3.2-$4 trillion in extra costs. Showing their sympathy, almost every US citizen wore the American Flag to commemorate those lost on the 11th.
