On December 7, 1941, one of the U. S’s worst military losses was recorded into history with the attack of Pearl harbor. Noted as “a date which will live in infamy” by President Franklin Roosevelt, it is considered to be the “straw that broke the camel’s back” when it came to deciding whether the U.S would go to war or not. It is also considered to be the reason why the U.S began its hastily production of nuclear weapons. The attack on pearl harbor was what ultimately lead the U.S into World War 2 after months of declaring neutrality and isolation. On the other side, the Japanese forces were able to show their dominance of stratergic warfare by deploying an almost successful surprise attack against the U.S. Japan was able to weaken the U.S forces even if it was just for the short run. The U.S however, benefitted the most from the attack because it showed their power as the most powerful military in the world and a nation that is prepared to protect themselves no matter the cost.
