“I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.”1 These words were quoted by Robert Oppenheimer after the first successful test of the atomic bomb, the Trinity Test. The atomic bomb was being tested and designed by the “Manhattan Project,” a top-secret nuclear weapon development organization for the purpose of attacking Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. The idea of creating the weapons was originated when Albert Einstein5 heard about the efforts of Germany to purify uranium-235, which could be turned into the atomic bomb. After seven years of working, the Y-12 power plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, produced bomb-grade U-235 that was shipped to New Mexico to construct the weapons named Little Boy and Fat Man, which were going to be dropped in Japan.
On July 16, 1945, the nuclear bombs were tested at Los Alamos, New Mexico. This point of time was when Robert Oppenheimer quoted the famous words, “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.”1 By stating this, Oppenheimer meant that nuclear

One might argue that the US had the right to go against the resolution because at the time, the League of Nations was already dissolved. Also, while the organization was still active, the US did not take any part in it, so they had the right to break the “rule” if they wanted to. Nevertheless, the US claims that it is a model for human rights, so it should at least obey the rule that all of the other nations agreed to follow. One may also object here by saying that nuclear weapons were not mentioned nor did they exist at the time of the resolution, so using the weapons were not against that law. However, the only reason why the atomic bomb was not included was because it was not invented until the July of 1945. If it was invented prior to the resolution, then it would be classified as a catastrophic explosive. In these laws, the countries clearly stated their terms, and the US disobeyed them with no
