United States of America was the first to use the atomic bomb during World War II. An atomic bomb is the release of nuclear energy by fission of heavy atomic nuclei. The damage occurs through heat, blast, and radioactivity. Ward Wilson states in the article, The Bomb Didn’t Beat Japan… Stalin Did, “The United States bombed Hiroshima on August 6 and Nagasaki on August 9, when the Japanese finally succumbed to the threat of further nuclear bombardment and surrendered.” Harry S. Truman, the thirty-third president of the United States of America, was to declare the dropping of the atomic bomb. He made this decision through many thoughts. One reason for the dropping was Japan’s rapid expansion through harsh means. Japan used ways like high tariffs, taking over America markets, etc. in order to grow as a country. This was one reason why Turman was prompted to drop the atomic bomb. Another reason was that, if the bombing did not take place then more bloodshed would have been created. Another reason, is to show the Soviet Union how powerful United States has became, and avoid conflict protected United States economy which means that other world economies would do well. Truman 's decision to drop the Atomic Bomb was righteous since, Truman wanted to end the war quickly.
