The faculty at the University of Waterloo have strongly impacted the world with their tobacco research. By combining scientific evidence with innovative technology, they create resources to help young Canadians quit smoking.(1) The accomplishments of UW staff and students have been recognized around the world. Their innovative approaches and extensive research on smoking have received attention from the World Health Organization, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Medical Association.(2) Moreover, the University of Waterloo has impacted over 28 countries by implementing national level tobacco control policies, affecting more than two thirds of the world’s tobacco users.(1) These policies have had a positive effect in many of these countries, especially in educating the population on the risks of smoking yet the issue of smoking seemingly remains on its own campus. Students who wish to smoke can do so on campus only ten meters from university …show more content…
