Whether Feminism is a beneficial movement in contemporary forms. Objection 1. It would seem that feminism is a good thing within society. Primarily because it exalts an oppressed class within the world. That class being women. Women have been subject to all sorts of oppression. Whether it being a social influence to stay home with children, negative stereotypes, or even not having the right to vote. Further, in the United States there is a distinct wage gap between the two genders. Women receive seventy-eight cents to every dollar a man makes for the same work. We can blame this statistically proven gap on the overarching patriarchy that has existed in the United States for centuries. Therefore we need feminism in the current era because the wage gap cannot be defeated without it. On the contrary, Feminism is not a good movement. Feminism is a movement that glorifies oneself, in this case it is women. God calls us to not be selfish in our thoughts, “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” Feminism has corrupted the minds of young women into thinking the world has a vendetta against them, and they must empower themselves to fight against it. The wage gap is misinterpretation of how the wage system works. The statistics cited only compile the average earnings of each woman and the average earnings of each man and compare the two. This is dishonest because men and women choose different jobs6. The lowest paying professions, such as education7 and nursing8, are dominated by women. Women often choose jobs helping and caring for people, this is how they were created. Men, however, dominate STEM jobs9. Which are the highest paying jobs. Women also choose to be at home more and will take part time jobs in order to be with their family in a more frequent
