Further, in the United States there is a distinct wage gap between the two genders. Women receive seventy-eight cents to every dollar a man makes for the same work. We can blame this statistically proven gap on the overarching patriarchy that has existed in the United States for centuries. Therefore we need feminism in the current era because the wage gap cannot be defeated without it. On the contrary, Feminism is not a good movement. Feminism is a movement that glorifies oneself, in this case it is women. The wage gap is misinterpretation of how the wage system works. The statistics cited only compile the average earnings of each woman and the average earnings of each man and compare the two. This is dishonest because men and women choose different jobs6. The lowest paying professions, such as education7 and nursing8, are dominated by women.
