How Jack Kennedy Changed America

The assassination of John Fitzgerald “Jack” Kennedy changed America forever, his charisma caught the attention of every citizen in America, his want for change curved the thoughts of the American people, there is no telling what could have come of his leadership and want for more, but on November 22, 1963, Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas. Days before the assassination of JFK, an ambassador had come to Dallas, and he was booed and spat on as he walked off of the podium after the speech. The goodness and kindness of the people of Dallas was beginning to be a question. Everyone began to view them as hillbilly folk from down south. Ever since he was born, Jack had immense health problems like right before Jack’s third birthday, he got scarlet fever and almost died. JFK was a third generation of politicians on both sides of his family. He was a rich kid. His father was one of the richest men in America and also became an ambassador to Great Britain. There was one thing all of his family had in common; they loved competition. They would have races, fights, rock-paper-scissors, anything that there was a winner and a loser. Jack was often in the shadow of his older brother Joe Jr., in which Joe Sr. always joked, would one day become the president of the United States. When Joe Sr. became ambassador to Britain in 1938, Jack moved to Britain with his family. Believe it or not, this is actually when JFK gained many of his overseas allies. After his years in of being the class clown at a boarding school, he went to Princeton, not following his brother’s or father’s footsteps. Joe Sr. sent him a letter and stated, “I guess you could not handle the competition.” After his fall semester at Princeton, he transferred to Harvard. While at Harvard JFK worked on a thesis that, when he graduated, became a book entitled Why England Slept. After a few months the book became a surprise best-seller and gave Joe Sr. confidence in his second son, he actually gave Jack chances to write some of his speeches.
