John F. Kennedy was a man who had captivated the hearts of the citizens of America after he became the 35th president of the United States of America. His race between Richard Nixon was tight, Kennedy only winning by a small number of votes. Lyndon Johnson, Kennedy’s vice presidential running mate, a Texas native, was able to get the Texans to vote for Kennedy, which ultimately won him the presidential election. In the book End of Days by James Swanson, John F. Kennedy’s assassination is deeply analyzed, looking at not only Kennedy’s background and story but the assassin and those close to Kennedy. He knew that it was important that he again receive votes from Texas. And an important place within Texas that they planned to visit was Dallas. People were weary of Kennedy going to Dallas. A Senator from Arkansas said “Dallas is a very dangerous place. I wouldn 't go there. Don 't you go”. This was not the only fearful request that Kennedy had received telling him to skip over Dallas in his campaigning tour. But to Kennedy, skipping over Dallas was not an option. He thought that “no president of the United States should ever be afraid to visit an American city”. He planned to visit Dallas on November 22, …show more content…
Lee had been living in Texas, but after the situation with Walker took place his wife wanted to move to New Orleans for a little while. After some time in New Orleans, Marina, Oswalds wife, decided she would move to Irving, Texas and stay with a friend because she was expecting a baby. The rifle, placed in the car by Oswald, turned un in Irving with Maria. After Oswald got into some trouble he decided to move back to Texas, Maria having secured him a job at the Texas School Book Depository. Things were looking up for Maria, Oswald would not be living with her, he had a place closer to his job, and she had a baby girl, what was about to happen will change her life forever. On November 19, the route that JFK would take from the airport to a breakfast gathering at the Trade Market was published in the Dallas Morning. This route went through downtown Dallas, and as the car turned left on Elm, he would be directly below a building known as the Teas School Book
