The Assassination Of Archduke Franz Ferdinand Of Poland

After the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary on June 28, 1914 by 19 year old Gaurilo Princip. Princip was only three weeks from being executed (20 years old was how old you had to be for someone to be executed). Since he was not old enough to be executed, Princip was sentenced 20 years in prison. He died in jail from tuberculosis on April 28, 1918. Being a south Slav nationalist, he supported a group of activists who called for the unification of all local Slav people in Bosnia. The activists dream was to push out the Habsburg occupies. To them, shooting the Archduke was the way to go to inspire others to join them.
When alliances were formed, six countries joined. Three taking one side. Three taking the other. Russia,
