Neonaticide referred to the killing of a child during the first 24 hours of life. In the story China and Jeremy decide “get rid of” (82) the baby girl rather than keeping her. Jeremy disposes of her body leaving her wrapped up in towels beside the dumpster. Imagine in our society if our community allowed for that action to be okay, more abandoned newborns would appear on the streets. Once the baby is left, he/she will be entered into foster care. The community has adjusted to those are in need of help even though it is not the ideal scenario it helps keep the neonaticide rates down.
In the story “the Love of My Life”, Jeremy and China face a situation they never thought they would have to face, teen pregnancy. Due to the society changes in our world has created a huge impact on teen pregnancy, from free range parenting to considering neonaticide not a crime. These issues have influenced unplanned teen pregnancy to not be considered a dramatic change in someone’s life. People in our community should want to have a kid and be happy about it not think of different ways to get a responsibility off their
