Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 and died on May 2, 1519. He was born in Vinci that is found in Arno River’s lower valley. Although that’s where he was born his hometown was in the territory of the Republic of Florence. He lived with his mother up until he was five years of age. After he turned five years of age he began to live with his father in the early beginnings of 1457. His father was in and out of relationships between his first and third marriage they were not so successful. It brought memories to when times get hard and when someone thinks they cant get through or times are too rough and one feels as if they don’t have the truth to pull theres are always a smile hidden somewhere. Even when times are rough still find a way to smile even if its not a full smile. I believe this artwork means to always keep smiling. I think da Vinci made this artwork because at the time it was painted it was hard times so he painted it to bring light to people’s
