Process of influencing people is not as simple as it may seem. Each leader’s personality traits are different as well as that of each individual subordinate. The process of influencing people involves knowing yourself and your subordinates. Knowing what gets them motivated, gives them passion, and makes it easier to instill your intent to them making them want to complete the mission. By doing that, it makes your intent their own and encourages them to explore different avenues to accomplish the mission. Leadership does not just happen by chance but is a skill that is developed. That is what President Eisenhower was trying to say when he said, "Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” (Eisenhower, 1958)Art is a skill, monitoring and improving your ability in that skill. Therefore, you can accomplish this by teaching that skill. You can do the same with leadership. Developing a skill is by teaching that skill, which means you, can monitor and improve on that skill. “It is very difficult to practice leadership in the business realm because of the problem of divided loyalty.
