The Armenian Genocide was Just as Awful The Holocaust is the most known genocide in history. For some people, it is the only genocide they know about. Sadly, there are many more genocides that have been similar to the Holocaust. For example, The Armenian genocide occurred between 1915 and 1922 when the Turkish government feared the Christianity was being used against their Muslim religion. The Armenian Genocide has comparable qualities to the Holocaust such as tactics used to murder people, motives for hating other groups, and the extreme amount of humans killed. The Armenian genocide was not as large of a genocide as the Holocaust, but the revolting ideas connected. These genocides stand as horrific experiences. People living in the worst conditions, were starving, cold, and hungry. First, the Germans and the Ottoman Turks both took away the rights of religion to the other group. The Turks had also “resented their success” of education and wealth the Armenians had over them (history.com, "Armenian Genocide"). The Turks initiated their plan to destroy the Armenians existence when they feared their “loyalty had strayed from the empire to other agencies and countries that employed them and used their services” and began to rebel against the Ottoman Empire (Stock, "The Armenian Genocide Begins"). Similarly, the Holocaust began because the Germans thought that the Aryan race was superior and the Jewish religion needed to be exterminated. Both Germany and The Ottoman Empire governments gained power to turn the country against that specific group of people they hated.
