The newness of strangers tends to hamper the inclination to communicate, sometimes causing feelings of anxiety or uncertainty. Uncertainty is a cognitive phenomenon that can be either predictive or explanatory. Predictive uncertainty is how an individual predicts someone will behave and the explanatory uncertainty is how a person can explain someone’s behavior. Anxiety is an emotional phenomenon that is based on the anticipation of negative consequences. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, I experienced the reactions outlined in the exchange of the Anxiety and Uncertainty Theory. With regards to my time living in South America, I thought it suitable to apply this hypothesis to my experience there. In Argentina, I encountered uncertainty and anxiety towards the maximum threshold at first. Had I practiced mindfulness sooner, I would have possessed the capacity to appreciate a greater amount of my time in Buenos Aires. Now, since I am aware of the methods for managing anxiety and uncertainty, I am sure that the next trip to a new place will be a lot more engaging from the
