These teenagers grew up with a lack of attention from not only family but also from institutions in society, such as schools. This shapes them into the weakest of bullies; those who need attention of any kind whether it’s negative or positive. They grow up with this self-conflict, and even though they keep it to themselves offline, their goal online, is to have people give them that attention to satisfy their need. Have you witnessed individuals write cruel insults regarding celebrities’ actions, in order to get a defensive reaction from their fans? There are those who have commented on how J-Lo lip-synched on American Idol. Yet, it 's not rocket science to figure out that at least 3 supportive fans will reply in less than a minute to defend her. Ever guess why your mom tells you to ignore your tease of an older sibling? It’s because when you stop giving them that attention it defeats their purpose. Just like if fans were to keep reacting to the harsh comments of the bully then the bully accomplishes his goal of gaining attention therefore encourages him to continue to
